brightness, and other special buttons on IBM Thinkpad keyboards with
KDE.

ECLiPt SSH Shell is a little graphical tool to startup ssh with certain usernames & hosts.

The primary aim of the Gtk+2 panel project is to provide a panel that reuses whatever is available (if it is not overkill) in the obvious way, such as subclassing GtkWidget instead of implementing applets, or by using a GtkBuilder file instead of defining a new format to customize the panel. This approach gives some additional advantages for free: you can use common tools in uncommon ways. Above all, you can use Glade to design your own panel. All the dependencies apart from GTK+ are (and hopefully will be) optional.

Dragbox is a tool for connecting the commandline with the desktop
environment. It summons a drag handle when you are managing files or
information in a shell. It accepts both drags and drops, and can be made
to output dragged-to items to the standard output. You can also pipe
text to Dragbox, or a list of files using xargs.

Kaptain is a universal graphical frontend for command line programs. It shows a friendly dialog by using a simple script which describes the program's possible arguments.

Ono is a configurable GUI system tray application from where you can easily handle Offlineimap or start any mail client, including terminal clients like Mutt. With builtin scripting language, you can even abuse Ono to serve any program without system tray support.

Bantam is a fast, light file manager for X11. It
is targeted at power users who know their way
around a file system and like to use the keyboard.
Its important features include single-keystroke
commands as the primary mode of operation, an
arbitrary number of directory views, and a
configurable interface to external file viewers
and editors.

TuxSaver is a 3D OpenGL screensaver for KDE. It shows Tux on an iceberg on the South Pole. It is possible to develop your own stories and 3D objects and add them to TuxSaver.

Band Saw is a syslog monitoring program for GNOME. It allows the user to define filters that specify which log messages should be drawn to the user's attention. Combined with syslog's remote logging functionality it provides an effective, scalable, and easily deployed monitoring solution.

The Virtual Tab Window Manager (VTWM) is a virtual window manager with
adjustable graphical complexity. With minimal settings, it is ideal for limited
resource situations, using little memory, little CPU time, few colors, and
little bandwidth. Fully blown, it supports m4 and regex processing of the
resource file, sound effects, user-defined color icons and buttons, and more.

Themus is a collection of theme utilities for
GNOME. You can manage your themes by going to
themes:/// in Nautilus, where they are displayed
and can be applied, installed, or deleted.
